Dance and Music

Dance and Music will, for the first time, be a part of Panteria.

The Moonlight Ball

The change of venue has provided us with a dancing area on the lake-side of the dining hall which is suitable for a Moonlight Ball.  The temptation was irresistible, hence we will have such a Ball on Saturday evening..  (But don't worry, if the weather or black flies are unbearable, there are two possible indoor ballrooms as well.)

We are fortunate to have Lady Mickel von Salm of Malagentia as the Dance Mistress for this first ever Panteria Moonlight Ball.   She is planning a mixture of English Country Dance, French. Italian Renaissance, and possibly a Russian Dance.  There will be some instruction by the Terpsichorean Masters at Panteria. Two introductory dance classes are planned and there will be some instruction (more of a talk through and reminder) at the ball.

Troubadours attending Panteria are encouraged to join the dance band to provide the music for dancing.   However, all Musicians planning to participate, are asked to contact our Dance Mistress, Lady Mickel von Salm so she may make as many arrangements (pun intended) for the ball as she is able.  She may be contacted at  ladyfreegate@yahoo.com

Some Printable Dance Directions

And for those who are interested in reviewing or maybe even learning the dances there is a compendium of directions at   Panteria Moonlight Ball Directions. This is a beat by beat description of the dances.

If you would like a more easily-carried booklet of dance directions, print off the Dance_Booklet_Panteria_XV.  Print it back-to-back on four sheets of 8.5 x11 paper, cut it along the solid horizontal line, assemble, and sew or staple along the dashed vertical lines.  Then fold and Voila! - a booklet.  It must be noted the booklet contains reminders (a la Playford) and not full beat by beat descriptions of the dances.

Music

All Musicians and Dance Masters are cordially invited to help with the Panteria Moonlight Ball. However, all Musicians planning to participate, are asked to contact Lady Mickel our Dance Mistress, (See contact information above.) so she may make as many arrangements (pun intended) for the ball music as she is able.

In addition, there will be plenty of opportunity for musicians to get together and play throughout  the day. The following rooms and times have been set aside for these musical activities. One of  places where musicians would be particularly welcome is the dance classes.   The times and places for the dance classes will be published on the Schedule Page  shortly.

Musicians will also have a chance to perform at the Coffeehouse on Sunday evening, following Court.  There is more information about The Coffeehouse here.
