Mountain Freehold/Panther Vale Yule

The Season for Yule is once again upon us!  The Shire of Mountain Freehold welcomes one and all, near and far, their Yule Feast, which will be held on Saturday January 8, 2011 at the Greek Orthodox Church Dormition of The Mother of God at 600 S. Willard Street in Burlington, as we've held it there in years past.  Your co-autocrats this year are Erasmus and myself (Lisabetta) :)

Site is "damp".  Beer and wines are fine, but nothing heavy and keep alcoholic beverages in moderation.

Yule will be free for everyone, however, to help cover the costs, we will be having a donation box at the front door to help pay for the costs of the rental of the hall.  Any donations made would be greatly appreciated

Feast:

Feast will be potluck; please bring in a dish that you would love to share!  Period recipes are also very welcome, but not necessarily mandatory.

Freehold Champion:

Since Birthday Bash, unfortunately, didn't happen this past September, we will hold the Freehold Champion outdoors on the grounds of the church.  We would like to ask the fighters to arrive early, as the contest will start at 2pm promptly, and will end at 4pm (before it gets dark).  If anyone would like to be in charge for the Freehold Champion event, please be sure to contact us and let us know!  Fighters will fight Round Robin-style, and the winner will receive the title of Champion of Mountain Freehold for the year!

Activities:

Children's Gift Exchange (for kids 12 and under): For each child attending Yule, we ask to bring in a pre-wrapped, gender neutral gift to be placed on a table, as well as mark on the gift the appropriate age range the gift is suited for.  Gifts do NOT have to be expensive...in fact, we recommend that they stay under $10.  At the appropriate time, kids will pick out a wrapped gift suited for their age range that is different from the one they brought in, so that all children will have something to open :)

Adult Gift Exchange: At last year's Yule in PantherVale, the teen/adult gift exchange was extremely successful and we would like to see this become a tradition at Freehold's Yule as well.  If you would like to participate, please bring with you something that is of SCA-related nature to give in exchange.  These items are not to be wrapped up, but will be displayed freely on a table.  Items offered can be gently used items, offers of craftmanship services, or something creative.

Other Activities: We're also currently looking for other activities for those who might want to host it, be it something for the kids, or something for the adults...games, dances, etc.  If you think you might interested in helping out with Yule activities, please let us know!  Or if you have any suggestions for activities, let us know as well.  We'd love for Yule to be fun! :)

Volunteers and Helpers:

We're also looking for volunteers and helpers that are willing to lend a hand in various things: help to hang things up, helping with clean-up afterwards, washing dishes, etc.

If you need to contact us, here's our Emails-
