Welcome to
Panther Vale!
Panther Vale
is a branch of the Society for
Creative Anachronism located in the Northeast quadrant of
Vermont . We are devoted to
bringing the Middle Ages to life, both for the enjoyment of those of us
who enjoy historical re-creation and role-play, and for the children in
the many elementary schools where we do demonstrations of the skills
practiced throughout the medieval period. We invite any and all with an
interest in medieval history to join us in our play and in our dream.

about the Society for Creative
Anachronism and the Shire of
Panther Vale.
The Shire of
Panther Vale will be holding a number of demonstrations and displays of
the activities of the Society for Creative Anachronism through
out the Shire during the summer months. Youth Combat, Heavy
List Fighting, Arts and Sciences, Bardic Arts, Thrown Weapons, and
Archery will all be included among the activities that will be on
display. Usually there
will be an opportunity for children in attendance to try on some
chain mail, to play medieval games, and to make a small blunt arrow.
Adults will be able to enjoy talking with knowledgable
artisans about such medieval crafts as cloisonné,
naalbinding,
illumination, brewing, cooking, silk painting, embroidery and
other needle arts, as well as
about the mission and purposes of the Society.
Demonstrations
are presently scheduled for:
The Town Hall in Brookfield's Pond Village,
Brookfield, Vermont
Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 12:30pm to about 3:00 pm
Christ Church lawn on State Street, Montpelier, Vermont
(Right next door to the Farmers' Market)
Saturday, September 6 or 13, 2008 from 12:00noon to about 3:00
pm
Other
demonstrations are expected to be scheduled
in the near future. Please come
and join us!
Panther Vale's
Archery Captain is featured in SCA Demo on Line
A great
resource
for new SCA members, and those interested in learning more
about the SCA, is the website
SCADemo.com. When you peruse the
site, you will find Panther Vale's Captain of Archery, Pomestnik Ivan
Sergeavich Scherbatskoy in two of the pictures. The first is
on the main page as the Marshal in the Archery picture (See below) on
the lower right side. You will have to click on the picture
to get a larger version, but Lord Ivan is in Red. He is also
shown as the Archery instructor in the Archery picture on the Service
page.
In addition to
the pictures of Pomestnik Ivan, there is at least one
additional picture of Panteria on the SCADemo.com site. It is
on the Archery page. If anyone finds additional pictures from
Panteria or any other Panther Vale activity, I would appreciate it if
you would send me an email at rwgoodrich@comcast.net
telling me where the picture is.
Many of the pictures on the SCADemo.com site, including those mentioned
in this article, were taken by Mountain Freehold
member and friend of Panther Vale, Lord Alaxandar an
Chobhlaigh mac Lochloinn.
